AI notice
Effective 2026-09-01
This service is a portion calculator. The most important part of this page is the first section, and it is not about AI at all.
Food safety
This service provides no food safety information whatsoever.
It does not judge whether food is safe to eat, whether it is spoiled, whether it is out of date, whether it is cooked through, or whether it has been defrosted safely. It gives no cooking temperatures and no refrigeration times. It has no view on leftovers beyond how much of them there will be.
Any question about whether food is safe must go to your national food safety authority. When in doubt, throw it out.
If you type a question that appears to be about food safety, the tool stops. It does not calculate quantities, it does not answer partially, and it does not offer a hedged version of an answer. It returns the line above and nothing else.
Allergens
This service does not identify, judge or manage allergens. It does not tell you whether a dish contains anything, and it does not assess whether anything is suitable for a person with an allergy, a coeliac diagnosis, or any intolerance.
Ask your guests directly, and check every ingredient label yourself. Mistakes here can be serious.
Where a question mentions allergies, the allergen notice is placed in front of the result and cannot be dismissed. The quantity calculation still runs, because "how much do I make for twelve" remains a legitimate question no matter who is coming.
Nutrition
This service gives no nutrition, calorie or dietary advice, to anyone, including children, pregnant people, older people or any other group. It answers how much to make. It does not answer what to eat.
Images
This service accepts no images. There is no upload control anywhere in the product — this is not a filter that rejects photographs, it is the absence of the feature. Consequently the service cannot assess the condition of any food, and it never will be able to.
The reason is straightforward. As soon as a service accepts a photograph of food, users reasonably ask whether it has gone off, whether it is cooked, and whether it contains a particular ingredient. Those are the three questions this service must never answer, so the most reliable protection is that the door does not exist.
What the quantities are, and are not
Quantities are always given as ranges. They deliberately err towards not running short, which is how event catering works, and the consequence is that leftovers are normal and expected. We tell you roughly how much will be left before you shop.
We do not promise that a quantity will be exactly right, and you will not find a claim on this site that anything comes out "just right". Guest appetite, the weather and how popular any given dish proves are all unknown to this service and always will be.
Where AI is actually used
Almost nowhere, and never for a number.
- The quantities are not generated by a model. They come from a fixed table of coefficients that ships with the site, and the arithmetic runs in your browser. You can read it in the page source and reproduce every figure by hand.
- A model is used for one thing: reading a sentence you typed and extracting the four inputs from it — headcount, hours, format, and the shape of the menu. Those inputs then go into the same arithmetic as the sliders. If the model reads your sentence wrongly, you will see it immediately, because the extracted inputs are shown back to you and can be corrected.
- Generated imagery never renders text that has to be correct. Every figure, label and heading on this site is drawn by code. No number anywhere on this site was drawn by an image model.
Language models make mistakes. Ours is confined to a job where a mistake is visible and correctable in one click, which is the only kind of job we are willing to give it.
High-risk uses are prohibited
You must not use this service, or anything it produces, in connection with medical, legal or financial decisions; food safety decisions of any kind; employment, credit, insurance or housing decisions; or the administration of justice. See the acceptable use policy.
Your rights are unaffected
Nothing on this page limits or excludes your statutory rights. This notice describes what the service does and where its limits are; it is not an exclusion of liability, and nothing in it affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Questions go to support@futureplatetk.shop.
Anything about whether food is safe to eat needs your national food safety authority, not a portion calculator. When in doubt, throw it out.
We can't help with allergens. Ask your guests directly and check every label yourself — a mistake here can be serious.
We don't look at photographs of food. There is no way to upload one here, on purpose — and we give no nutrition, calorie or dietary advice to anyone.
Questions about any of this go to support@futureplatetk.shop. Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 UK time. We answer within one business day.
